Our Story
Founded in 2019, Glasgow East Juniors RFC was created by a dedicated group of coaches and volunteers who share a passion for rugby and a belief that every young person should have the opportunity to experience the game. Glasgow East Juniors RFC was born, and we proudly made Barrachnie Park our home.
Since then, we have grown from a small community initiative into a thriving youth rugby club, welcoming children of all ages and abilities from across Glasgow East and beyond.
Our mission extends beyond rugby. We are committed to developing our facilities, supporting local schools and community groups, and creating opportunities for young people to build confidence, form lasting friendships, and develop valuable life skills through sport.
We are particularly proud of our strong partnership with Mount Vernon Primary School, where we continue to build on the success of our work with pupils throughout the school, including those within the Nurture Group. Through this partnership, we use rugby and physical activity to support young people's development, wellbeing, confidence, and engagement both in school and within the wider community.
Whether you're looking to play, coach, volunteer, or support the club, there is a place for everyone at Glasgow East Juniors RFC.
Our Commitment
At Glasgow East Juniors RFC, we believe rugby should be accessible to all.
We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where every child can learn, develop, and enjoy the game at their own pace.
Through positive coaching, strong safeguarding practices, and a focus on teamwork, respect, and personal development, we use rugby as a vehicle to improve health, wellbeing, and community connections across Glasgow East.
We strive to ensure that every young person who joins our club feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential, both on and off the field.
Recognition
The smiles, confidence, and achievements of our players are the greatest reward for everyone involved in Glasgow East Juniors RFC. However, it is always encouraging to see the hard work and values of our club recognised beyond the rugby pitch.
In 2021, our founder, Brendan, was honoured with the Glasgow North Diversity & Inclusion Award in recognition of his commitment to creating opportunities for young people from all backgrounds. This achievement reflects the ethos of our club and our ongoing dedication to ensuring rugby is a sport that is welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for all.
While awards are appreciated, our true success is measured by the positive impact we have on the young people, families, and communities we serve every day.
